Veterinarian

Dr. Nenad Karli

Dr. Nenad Karli graduated in 1986 from the University of Sarajevo and worked as an associate professor in the university’s Surgical Department for 4 years. He also ran his own general private practice for small animals in Croatia until 1996. Dr. Karli visited Canada in 1994 & 1995 and liked it so much that he immigrated to Toronto in 1996, studied hard and received his Canadian Veterinary licence at the University of Montreal in 1999. He then moved with his wife to the West Coast in 2000 and fell in love with British Columbia’s beauty and polite people.

Dr. Karli has a connection with animals that is calming and almost serene. He enjoys spending time with his adopted cat Oakley and you can often find him in his office petting and giving lots of love to him (We have even caught him giving kisses, although he’ll never admit it).

When not working Dr. Karli loves riding his bike alongside his beloved wife and two gorgeous identical twin daughters.

Veterinary Office Assistant

Jenny Wells

Upon entering Oxford Animal Hospital you will often be greeted by a welcoming smile from Jenny, our friendly and caring office assistant. Jenny has a great love for animals and has always been passionate about their well being. Jenny graduated from the Veterinary Office Assistant program at Granville Business College in 2001 and has been a welcome addition to our team since February of 2012. Jenny spent some of her childhood in the sunny palm treed beaches of El Salvador where she was born and speaks fluent Spanish. She has been in Canada since she was ten years old and lived in Burnaby before moving to Port Coquitlam in 2009. In her free time, Jenny enjoys spending time with her talented husband and adorable daughter, being outdoors or just watching Disney movies at home. She also spends her time chasing after her two nutty cats that tend to get themselves into silly situations, such as falling off bookcases and getting stuck in dresser drawers.
Veterinary Office Assistant/Veterinary Assistant

Stacey Bissell

Stacey graduated with honors from Stenberg College in 2004. She started her
career in the veterinary field at a local veterinary hospital in Surrey where she
spent fifteen years caring and supporting pets and their owners. She came to us in
2017 and has been a valued member of our team ever since. When she isn’t
working, she spends time with her Golden Retrievers and Bernese Mountain Dog,
who will often greet you happily at the door of the hospital.
Office Assistant/Veterinary Assistant

Jasmin Miller Veterinary

Jasmin joined our team early 2020, after moving back from Prince Rupert where
she began her journey in the Veterinary field. She has great love and compassion
for animals. You can find Jasmin at the front desk, booking appointments,
answering your questions and anything else you need. If she’s not at the front,
she can be found assisting the veterinarians with patients in the back of the
hospital. When she’s not working, Jasmin loves spending time with her pets as
well as her friends.
Veterinary Assistant

Leslie Chapman

One of the most commonly seen faces at Oxford Animal Hospital is Leslie’s, considering she works not only as an assistant in the back but is knowledgeable enough to help out at the front desk. Leslie’s sense of humour is contagious and her polite nature makes her instantly likeable. Her education includes a Veterinary Office Assistant Diploma from Granville Business College and assistant development courses encouraged and supported by the hospital. In addition, although not fluent, Leslie can understand most spoken Spanish words and can successfully interpret English to Spanish.

Leslie is a proud mother to Jacob, a 6 year old goofy German Shepherd. Together they enjoy hiking together or just sitting together and reading comic books.

Veterinary Assistant

Oscar Gonzalez Granados

Oscar graduated from Vancouver Career College in 2017 and joined our team in
2018. He’s extremely friendly, and helpful toward all clients and their beloved
pets. He also is fluent in Spanish and English and is able to guide you through your
appointment in either language. When Oscar is not at the clinic, he enjoys fitness,
boxing, and hanging out with friends.

Annie

Annie is Oxford Animal Hospital’s new addition. With the loss of our Oakley we were very sad and the hospital just felt like there was a void. A wonderful client of ours felt our palpable sadness when she entered the clinic and was gracious enough to gift us one of her kittens who needed our care and loving.

Annie’s disposition is perfect for a clinic environment, she is gentle, calm, loving and patient with those frisky dogs that love to chase her. You will often find her in the front window batting at those pesky flies and insects on the outside of the window (This entertains her for hours).

Annie also has many “Oakleyisms” as we call them. She walks across our keyboard all the time wrecking our computers, she’ll give us love bites (but never breaks the skin), she drinks from our mugs and sticks her tail in them all the time, chews on plastic bags and food bags, she loves to tease the other cat patients relentlessly, she’s a staff lunch thief and she sleeps in all of Oakley’s old sleeping spots.

However, Annie has many of her own traits which have endeared her to us and she has found a place alongside Oakley in our hearts.

Oakley

IN MEMORIAM – FEBRUARY 8, 2013

We are very sad to say goodbye to our friend and beloved cat, Oakley, who passed away from cancer on February 8, 2013. He has been our clinic companion since 2008 and was loved so very much. We will miss his face rubs, cuddles and love bites, his staff lunch mooching and his incessant need to dunk his cat littered paw in our tea, water and coffee.

We will miss you, we love you and will never forget you, Oakley. May you rest in peace.
